Remembering Grandma

Just a few days and a year ago, my beloved Grandma Ransom passed away. I inherited a great deal of recipes from her. Many of them are on large index cards bound with two rings. They are typewritten and timeworn. I love knowing that my grandmother used these and feel connected to her when I look at them.

Grandma was always a wonderful cook. Some food items that remind me of her:
Root beer floats
Chiligetti
Fried chicken
Rolls
Ice cream sandwiches
Old Easter candy
And especially, white cupcakes with her homemade cream cheese frosting

Although Grandma is not with us anymore, she left a legacy of charity and love passed down through her children, grandchildren, and is continued to be passed to her great grandchildren. She has passed on a tradition of the importance of family and good food.

Thanks for doing this. Grandma's cooking is one of the things I most remember about her. We always felt completely loved at her house because of the love and care (and fun!) she put in to cooking. This is a great way to remember her.

Last year on her birthday I made cupcakes. I think we should make it a tradition. Don't you? :)
